Although melamine cyanurate （MCA） can be used for the fire retardance of various thermoplastic and thermosetting resins, the best application, the most efficient and the most widely used is fire retardant nylon. This is because the bonding properties of melamine cyanurate are similar to nylon, and it has fire retardancy to nylon special effects, Table 4-8 shows the performance comparison of MCA and decabromodiphenylethane (DBP) fire retardant nylon.
As can be seen from the above table, the overall performance of MCA fire retardant nylon is better than DBP, especially its CTI performance is very excellent.
