There are many research reports on melamine cyanurate used in fire retardant nylon fibers, but no industrial reports have been reported so far. The author has conducted research on melamine cyanurate fire retardant nylon 6 filaments and cords, although the prepared fibers have better performance fire retardance, but because of the addition of more than 3% caused poor spinnability, and failed to be industrially applied. Recently, it has been reported that it is compounded with phosphate ester for the preparation of 0.25mm nylon 66 bristle. This bristle is used for weaving electrical appliances or cable protective sleeves. The thickness of the braided cloth of 0.8mm can reach UL-94 V-0. level.

According to the data report and the author's research experience, melamine cyanurate's fire retardant synergists for nylon can include talc, titanium dioxide, and some transition metal oxides such as antimony oxide, tin oxide, and aluminum tungsten, and processing aids You can use erucamide, distearylamide, etc. as lubricants, and add some light and heat stabilizers appropriately. MCA is used for nylon 6 and nylon 66. It can reach UL-94 V-0 level by adding 6% ~ 10% without filling. It can reach UL-94 by adding 13% ~ 15% of mineral filler and appropriate additives V-0 grade; 15% ~ 20% glass fiber reinforced can reach UL94V2 grade, hot wire test can pass 960 ℃, CTI value is greater than 500 V.
